Winter has started spreading across India with snowfall in hilly regions and rains in the south and northeast. Delhi continues to battle pollution, while states like Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan experience a drop in temperature and rising chill.
Delhi's Weather Takes a Turn
New Delhi: Winter has arrived in almost all parts of the country. The hilly states of North India—Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh—are currently experiencing snowfall, leading to a drop in temperatures. Meanwhile, some plains states are also experiencing a slight chill and cloudy weather, causing temperatures to fall.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Northeast Monsoon is now becoming active. Under its influence, heavy rainfall with strong winds is expected in the northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram, as well as in the southern states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. Thunderstorm warnings have also been issued for several areas.
Weather Update: Mild chill, hick haze covers Delhi NCR, air quality deteriorates
Due to the influence of a Western Disturbance, light rain and snowfall are expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. This is likely to cause a further drop in temperatures in the hilly regions. The cold weather is expected to intensify in these areas in the coming days.
Cold Weather Arrives in Delhi-NCR
The capital Delhi-NCR is currently experiencing extremely high levels of pollution. The air quality here is in the "very poor" category. However, cloudy skies and strong winds may provide some relief. There is no possibility of rain for the next two days, but the winds will increase the feeling of cold.
In Uttar Pradesh, the mornings and evenings are now feeling colder. Fog is expected in some areas. Bihar will remain mostly clear for now, but cold weather and fog are expected to arrive by November 10th. Some areas may see partial cloud cover, but there are no rain warnings.
Rajasthan recently experienced light rainfall due to a Western Disturbance, but the weather has now become dry. Temperatures are expected to fall in the coming days. However, some areas may remain partly cloudy, and there is a possibility of light drizzle in a few places.
