Murshidabad: Three people, including two school students, were killed after a local train collided with a school pool car at a railway level crossing in Murshidabad district, West Bengal, on Friday morning.
According to railway officials, the accident occurred at around 7 am near Karna Subarna railway station, about 48 km from Katwa, in the Eastern Railway network.

The pool car, carrying school children, was attempting to cross the railway tracks when it was hit by an oncoming local train near Berhampore.
Railway sources said the level-crossing gate was open at the time of the collision. Following the incident, the gateman was arrested, and authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident.
A 10-member inquiry team has been sent to the site to determine the exact cause of the collision.

The accident disrupted rail traffic on the Azimganj–Katwa section of the Eastern Railway's Howrah division. Senior police officials reached the accident site, while rescue and recovery operations were carried out.
According to railway sources, ₹10 lakh compensation has been announced for the families of each of the deceased. Authorities are continuing their investigation, and further details are awaited.
