New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Kapil Sibal has expressed serious concern about the long absence of former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. Sibal said that Dhankar had resigned from his post on 22 July, but no information about him was found till 9 August. Sibal made a satirical comment on this subject, saying, "We heard the cases of 'Laapataa Ladies,' but this is the first case of a 'Laapataa Vice President.'"

Sibal's main concerns:

1. Lack of contact: Sibal said that he contacted Dhankhar's private secretary (PS), who said that he is "resting." After this, there was no dialogue, nor was any official information given about their situation.

2. Question about security: Sibal appealed to the opposition to ensure the safety of Dhankhar. He said, "If we have to file a habeas corpus petition or have to write an FIR, it would be unfortunate."

3. Personal Relations: Sibal said that Dhankhar has been his close friend, and both have worked together in many cases. He said, "I am personally worried about his safety, so I am raising this issue."

Satire and Serious Questions:

Sibal tightened up and said, "You find Bangladeshis from one place to another; I am sure you will find them (Dhankar)." He further said that Dhankar is not even at his official residence, and it is important to know where they are so that they can meet them.

Political Reference:

Jagdeep Dhankhar has not made any statement in public since resigning from the post of vice president. Government or any official source has not yet given any clarification on their absence. This statement of Sibal can further increase the tension between the opposition and the government, because the matter of Dhankar has now become a question of security and transparency.
