New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited to the Canadian G-7 summit this year. This step is being taken very seriously after the recent strained relations between India and Canada, and the same is being discussed widely, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Making a statement on this topic, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that the upcoming G-7 nations summit will deliberate on significant issues such as security, energy, the digital future, and critical minerals. He laid emphasis on the fact that India's presence on such an international platform is extremely significant.

What did PM Carney comment on India's role being?

Prime Minister Carney added India is the world's fifth biggest economy and the world's most populous nation, right at the heart of the international supply chain. He added, "We are presently chairing the G-7 and are negotiating issues such as energy, security, digital technology, and infrastructure development in developing nations with our like-minded countries.

The involvement of nations such as India is extremely crucial in these negotiations." He further added that India and Canada still cooperate on matters pertaining to law and order, and in this regard, Prime Minister Modi was invited to the conference, which he has accepted. Carney stated, "We have agreed to continue the discussion on law enforcement, acknowledging the concerns around accountability."

PM Modi's response

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday assured that he would be present at the G-7 summit to be organized in Canada. He tweeted (earlier Twitter), "It was a pleasure to speak to Canadian Prime Minister Mark J. Carney on the telephone. Congratulated him on his election success in the recent elections and also thanked him for extending the invitation for the G-7 Summit to be hosted later this month at Kananaskis."

Modi added, "Vibrant democracies such as India and Canada that are bound together by shared interests and mutual respect will now work together with renewed vigour. I am looking forward eagerly to meeting at the summit."
