Israeli army declared Gaza's largest city a war zone
Jerusalem: The Israeli army has turned Gaza City, Gaza's largest city, into a war zone and has also banned the distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza City.
This will further increase the troubles of thousands of people living in Gaza City, who are already facing starvation-like conditions.
The Israeli army wrote in a post shared on social media that the local tactical ban on military activities in Gaza City will no longer be in force from 10 am today. This area has been declared a dangerous war zone.
Is Israel preparing to occupy Gaza City?
The Israeli army claims that such a ban has been imposed in parts of the Gaza Strip in recent weeks to facilitate the entry and distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza. The Israeli army IDF said that except for Gaza City, the local tactical ban will remain in force throughout the rest of the area. The IDF said 'they will conduct offensive operations against terrorist groups in Gaza to protect Israeli citizens'. The Israeli army is believed to be preparing to capture Gaza city, where half of Gaza's estimated population of 1 million has taken refuge.
Hunger situation in Gaza, but Israel denies
A global hunger monitor said on Friday that Gaza city and its surrounding areas are now officially facing famine. It may spread further. According to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification System, 5,14,000 people are in the grip of famine. This number may increase to 6,41,000 people by the end of September.
However, Israel rejected this report. It said that these findings are wrong and biased. Israel says the survey used only incomplete information, mostly from Hamas, and did not take into account recent food supplies to Gaza.
