New Delhi: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Shatrughan Sinha has publicly stated that he will continue to stand by party chief Mamata Banerjee, even as the party faces a wave of internal dissent and resignations from senior leaders and lawmakers.

The actor-turned-politician, who represents the Asansol Lok Sabha seat, said he remains committed to serving the people who elected him and to supporting the party leadership.

Denies Claims Of Supporting Rebel MPs

Sinha dismissed reports suggesting that he had signed a letter backing rebel MPs within the party. He termed the allegations false and clarified that he is not part of any internal revolt.

Speaking to PTI, he stressed that his statements in support of Mamata Banerjee were being misrepresented. According to him, expressing loyalty should not be confused with rebellion.

Credits Mamata Banerjee For Political Support

Sinha recalled that Mamata Banerjee supported him during a difficult phase after his 2019 Lok Sabha election defeat from Patna Sahib. He said she gave him the opportunity to contest from Asansol, which led to his victory.

He added that his political journey with the TMC is rooted in gratitude and responsibility, stating that he cannot abandon the leadership when it needs support.

Internal Crisis Deepens In TMC

His clarification comes amid reports of internal unrest within the TMC, with several MPs and legislators allegedly expressing dissent. While some leaders have resigned or voiced opposition, Sinha’s statement provides relief to the party leadership.

Sources earlier indicated that claims of him joining rebel MPs were inaccurate, adding that he was not present in Delhi during the developments.

Despite his support, the party continues to face challenges, with divisions reported in both Parliament and the West Bengal Assembly, signalling a widening internal crisis.
