New Delhi: The Trinamool Congress is facing renewed internal challenges after Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev resigned from all party positions, becoming the second member of the Upper House from the party to step down from organisational responsibilities this week.

Dev, who joined the Trinamool Congress in 2021 after leaving the Congress, announced her decision while describing it as the beginning of a new phase in her public life. However, she has not indicated any immediate plans regarding her Rajya Sabha membership.

Her resignation comes at a time when the party is already grappling with growing signs of internal dissent following its recent electoral setback in West Bengal.

Sukhendu Sekhar Roy's Exit Adds to Pressure

Earlier this week, veteran Trinamool leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy resigned from both Parliament and the party. In a strongly worded statement, Roy criticised the party leadership and reflected on political developments in the state following the Assembly elections.

Rebellion in Legislature Wing Raises Concerns

A group of 58 Trinamool MLAs reportedly defied the party leadership and backed Ritabrata Banerjee for the post of Leader of the Opposition instead of the party's official candidate, Shovandeb Chattopadhyay.
