Karnataka: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Friday issued an emotional public statement after Siddaramaiah Resignation,, praising the senior Congress leader’s political legacy and contribution to Karnataka’s governance.
The statement came shortly after Siddaramaiah formally resigned from office amid an expected leadership transition in the Congress-led state government.
In a detailed message, Shivakumar described Siddaramaiah’s rise from rural Karnataka to the Chief Minister’s office as a symbol of resilience, perseverance and commitment to social justice.

“God does not give boons or curses. He only gives opportunities. What matters is what we make of those opportunities,” Shivakumar said while reflecting on Siddaramaiah’s political career.
He added that Siddaramaiah’s journey from a village in Mysuru district to becoming Karnataka Chief Minister represented one of the finest examples of dedication and public service in state politics.
Shivakumar also highlighted the close political partnership he shared with Siddaramaiah over the past several years, particularly after being appointed Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president in 2020.
“Ever since I became KPCC President, Siddaramaiah avaru stood firmly beside me like a pillar of strength,” Shivakumar said. He noted that both leaders had worked together to strengthen the Congress organisation and expand the party’s reach across Karnataka.
Calling it a privilege to serve alongside Siddaramaiah as Deputy Chief Minister, Shivakumar expressed hope that the veteran leader’s guidance would continue to inspire the party in the future.
Siddaramaiah’s resignation follows months of political speculation over a possible leadership change in Karnataka after the Congress government completed three years in office.

Congress leaders are expected to finalise the transition process after consultations with the party high command in Delhi. Shivakumar is widely seen as the frontrunner to succeed Siddaramaiah as the next Chief Minister.
In his statement, DK Shivakumar stressed the importance of unity within the Congress during the transition phase. Quoting a well-known saying, he said, “If you want to walk fast, walk alone. If you want to walk far, walk together.”
The message was viewed as an attempt to project stability and continuity in the Karnataka Congress government following Siddaramaiah’s exit from the top post.
