Kangana Ranaut says Rahul Gandhi 'makes women uncomfortable'
New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying his behaviour makes women uncomfortable. She described him as “tapori-like,” remarking on his casual and sometimes disrespectful conduct during parliamentary proceedings.
Kangana’s comments came after 84 former bureaucrats, 116 veterans, and four lawyers wrote an open letter seeking an apology from Rahul Gandhi. The letter addressed an incident on March 12, when Rahul Gandhi was seen having tea and biscuits at the Makar Dwar entrance of Parliament during the Budget Session, amid a protest over LPG shortages.

The signatories expressed concern over what they called a “conscious disregard for parliamentary authority,” stating that such behaviour is not befitting the Leader of the Opposition (LoP).
Speaking to reporters in the Parliament complex, Kangana said, “We women feel very uncomfortable seeing him… he comes like a vagabond and refers to anyone disrespectfully. If someone is giving an interview, he makes hooting calls.” She contrasted Rahul Gandhi’s conduct with that of his sister, Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, noting her behaviour as exemplary.
Led by former Jammu and Kashmir DGP SP Vaid, the letter emphasized that Rahul Gandhi’s actions in Parliament reflect a “sense of entitlement and arrogance.” They described his theatrics sitting on Parliament steps while sipping tea amid sloganeering as inappropriate for a parliamentary leader.

The bureaucrats, veterans, and lawyers stated that such conduct undermines the dignity of the LoP position and fails to respect parliamentary decorum.
Kangana Ranaut’s remarks have stirred political debate, highlighting ongoing tensions between the BJP and Congress. The incident and subsequent criticism continue to generate discussion on expected conduct from senior parliamentary leaders, especially regarding professionalism and respect in legislative spaces.
