9-Day celebrations in the hounour of nine incarnations of Maa Durga
New Delhi: With just two days for Shardiya Navratri - a 9-Day celebrations in the hounour of nine incarnations of Maa Durga beginning Monday 22 September - divine fervour and devotional fragrance are gripping the Nation, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
All the Temples are decked up for the celebations. Several exclusive Pandals adorned with Idols of Goddess Durga are being set up to pay obeisance to the 'Shakti'. A large number of devotees have started right from now flocking to the Temples and Pandals to have first 'Darshan' of the Goddess.
However the Navratri festival in West Bengal is celebrated as Durga Puja to commemorate the goddess Durga's victory over the demon Mahishasura. The whole of the West Bengal is fondly decorated and elaborate Idols of the Goddess are worshipped in thousands of Pandals adorned with Goddess Durga.
The Capital city Kolkata is completely immersed in the festivities. The entire city is painted in the colour of the Durga Puja festival. Vibrant with the spirit of festival the city is smeared with Durga Puja pageantry, lights, crowds, and joy. Every bit of thing you see in Kolkata is Durga Puja.
In every street of the city there is dance, song, music, and cultural performances every where.
Here Durga Puja begins on Saturday, 27 September till Thursday, 2 October. Major rituals - Maha Saptami, Maha Ashtami, and Maha Navami - will be celebrated from 29 September to 1 October. However the key ceremonies are Bilva Nimantran on Panchami 27 Sept, Kolabou Puja on Saptami 29 Sept, Kumari Puja and Sandhi Puja on Ashtami 30 Sept, Navami Homa on Nabami 1 Oct, and lastly Durga Visarjan on Dashami 2 Oct.
