Coimbatore: BJP National Mahila Morcha President and Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan has called for strict action against all those involved in the large-scale faculty fraud uncovered at Anna University.
Speaking about the issue, Vanathi Srinivasan said that Anna University has been tarnished by shocking revelations that hundreds of professors worked illegally in multiple colleges using misused Aadhaar numbers.
With more than 480 engineering colleges affiliated to the university, the scale of the fraud has raised serious concerns.
A committee formed to probe the issue identified 353 teachers who had been employed in more than one college simultaneously, violating all regulations.
Following this, the DVAC has reportedly filed cases against 10 individuals, including two former registrars and three professors said to be directly responsible for orchestrating the scam.
Calling the matter a betrayal of students’ trust, Vanathi Srinivasan said: “Engineering education is the dream of poor and middle-class families. Anna University and the Tamil Nadu government should protect those dreams not allow them to be shattered by fraud.”
She urged that strict, uncompromising action be taken against all those involved teachers, officials, and anyone who enabled the scam regardless of their seniority or position. She also urged the Tamil Nadu government to ensure that such incidents never recur.
