Ramzan is a significant month of fasting, prayer and reflection observed by Muslims worldwide. Devotees fast from dawn until sunset, refraining from food and water during daylight hours. The early office closure is intended to ease the physical strain of fasting and allow employees sufficient time to prepare for iftar, the meal that breaks the fast at sunset.
Officials said the measure ensures that employees can reach home in time for evening prayers and family gatherings. The decision reflects the government’s effort to balance administrative responsibilities with cultural and religious sensitivities.
This is not the first time the Telangana government has introduced such a relaxation. Similar provisions have been granted in previous years during Ramzan, making it a recurring administrative practice in the state.

By adjusting working hours, authorities aim to maintain productivity while reducing fatigue among fasting employees. The policy also reinforces the state’s commitment to inclusivity and accommodation of diverse religious traditions within public institutions.
Government offices, schools and public institutions across the state will follow the revised timings for eligible staff during the fasting month. Officials believe the move will foster a supportive work environment and encourage communal harmony.
As Ramzan progresses over the next 29 to 30 days, the early closure order is expected to benefit thousands of Muslim employees across Telangana, enabling them to observe the holy month with greater ease and dignity.
