New Delhi: Royal Enfield is preparing a mid-life update for its popular bike, the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650. According to media reports, the company may launch this updated model in the Indian market by the end of 2026. Recently, the company also showcased the race-spec Continental GT-R 750 at EICMA 2025 and Motoverse 2025.

However, even after the launch of the 750cc model, the 650cc version will not be discontinued. The company is working on a strategy to sell both models together, giving customers more choice.

Freshness in design

With the new Continental GT 650, the company will strive to enhance its look and design. New color options are likely to be added, making the bike look more premium and stylish.

While its iconic cafe-racer style will be retained, minor design updates could give it a modern touch, which could particularly appeal to younger riders.

Possible Improvements in Suspension and Braking

The updated model may also see mechanical changes. The current telescopic front fork and dual rear shock absorbers could be replaced with a more advanced and premium suspension setup.

A twin-disc brake system is also expected at the front. This could improve the bike's braking ability and control. These changes will also impact ride quality, making long-distance journeys more comfortable.

Price May Increase

Currently, the Continental GT 650's ex-showroom price ranges from ₹3.50 lakh to ₹3.78 lakh. The addition of new features and premium parts could lead to a slight price increase.

This bike is positioned between the Interceptor 650 and Classic 650 in the company's lineup. It is one of the company's most popular twin-cylinder bikes in India and international markets.

Why is the Continental GT 650 special?

The Continental GT 650 is popular among bike enthusiasts due to its powerful performance, retro-style design, and strong road presence. It offers a similar experience to larger-engined bikes, yet remains affordable.

Continuing to offer a 650cc version alongside the 750cc model indicates that the company places a significant value on this model. Potential updates could make the bike even more attractive and competitive.
