Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has opened a fresh political front against the DMK by bringing Enforcement Directorate (ED) documents into the Assembly and accusing the opposition party of a long-running culture of organised corruption.
The move triggered a dramatic showdown inside the House, turning the Assembly into a political battleground as Vijay attempted to frame corruption and accountability as the central issues of Tamil Nadu politics.
In a high-voltage Assembly exchange, Chief Minister Vijay cited documents linked to the Enforcement Directorate while targeting alleged irregularities during the previous DMK regime.
Vijay argued that the allegations were backed by records of a central investigative agency and claimed that the documents revealed serious questions about governance and transparency.
The Chief Minister’s move shifted the focus of the Assembly debate from routine legislative discussions to allegations of corruption involving senior political figures.
Vijay’s strongest attack came when he described the alleged irregularities as “scientific corruption”, claiming that illegal activities were carried out through a structured and organised system.
