New Delhi: The Rajasthan Royals are reportedly exploring one of the most sensational player trades in IPL history. As per emerging reports, the franchise is ready to part ways with captain Sanju Samson if Chennai Super Kings agree to send seasoned all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and young South African batter Dewald Brevis in return.

Both Jadeja and Samson currently command a contract worth Rs 18 crore each, but the Royals are believed to be pushing for an additional player to sweeten the deal. Brevis, who made his debut for CSK midway through IPL 2025, has been the latest addition to their wishlist.

Why Rajasthan Wants Jadeja and Brevis?

The Royals' interest in Ravindra Jadeja comes as no surprise. Jadeja, who started his IPL journey with Rajasthan Royals in the league’s inaugural seasons, went on to become one of Chennai Super Kings’ most influential players since joining them in 2012. His all-round capabilities and leadership experience make him an attractive option for Rajasthan as they look to rebuild around experienced performers.

Adding Dewald Brevis to the mix, however, makes this a high-stakes negotiation. The young South African batter quickly became a fan favourite after joining CSK as a mid-season replacement in IPL 2025. Despite the team’s underwhelming campaign, Brevis impressed with his aggressive batting style and consistency, earning recognition across global T20 leagues.

CSK Reluctant to Add Another Player?

While reports confirm that both teams are “seriously pursuing” the swap, Chennai Super Kings are reportedly not in favour of including a second player in the deal. The franchise is willing to discuss a Jadeja-for-Samson swap, but Brevis’s name has complicated the negotiations.

The Royals’ insistence on including Brevis could become a major sticking point and delay final confirmation. With both Samson and Jadeja being high-value players, the franchises appear cautious about making a move that might upset their team balance before the IPL 2026 auction.

Jadeja’s Mixed IPL 2025 Season

Ravindra Jadeja’s performance in the 2025 season was a mix of milestones and struggles. He scored 324 runs in 14 matches, including one half-century, and became the fifth-highest run-scorer for CSK in IPL history after surpassing 3000 runs. However, he struggled against spin, managing just 51 runs off 58 balls from spinners. With the ball, he took 10 wickets, with best figures of 2/24 against Lucknow Super Giants.

Will SRH let go of their Rs 23 crore superstar before IPL 2026 auction?

Despite Jadeja’s personal achievements, CSK endured their toughest season yet, finishing last on the points table for the first time in franchise history with only four wins from 14 matches.

What Lies Ahead?

If the trade materialises, it could become one of the most talked-about deals in IPL history. The potential swap would see Rajasthan part with their long-standing captain and Chennai bid farewell to one of their most iconic players.

As the IPL 2026 auction approaches, all eyes will be on how this negotiation unfolds. Whether CSK agrees to Rajasthan’s dual-player demand or stands firm on a straight exchange could decide the next big headline of the cricketing world.
