Lionel Messi beat Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar to win Ballon d'Or Award for the world’s best player for the fifth time. Barcelona forward had 41.33 per cent of the vote, while Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo had 27.76 per cent. Barcelona’s Neymar stood third with 7.86 per cent votes.

The 28-year-old Argentine had previously won the honour four times, consecutively, from 2009 to 2012.

 

 

Women's world player of the year
United States midfielder Carli Lloyd won the women's world player award. She scored a hat-trick in the final against Japan, including a sensational strike from the halfway line, and earned the Golden Ball for best player in the tournament.

 

 

World coach of the year - women's football
United States coach Jill Ellis was named women's football world coach of the year followed by Japan’s Norio Sasaki and England’s Mark Sampson. United States had won World Cup last year.

 

World coach of the year - men's football
Barcelona coach Luis Enrique won the world coach of the year award beating Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola and Chile's Copa America-winning coach Jorge Sampaoli. Lus Enrique had led his side to five of the six trophies in 2015, including the Champions League, La Liga and the Copa del Rey.

 

Puskas award - goal of the year
Atletico Goianiense's Wendell Lira won the goal of the year award for his overhead kick against Goianesia in Brazil's Goiano state league.
