Pakistan: Former MQM-P leader assassinated

Former Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan MQM-P leader and former Member of Pakistan National Assembly (MNA) Ali Raza Abidi was shot dead in Karachi on Tuesday, stated Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Javed Alam Odho.

Karachi: Former Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan MQM-P leader and former Member of Pakistan National Assembly (MNA) Ali Raza Abidi was shot dead in Karachi on Tuesday, stated Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Javed Alam Odho.
According to Dawn, two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire on Abidi's car on Khayaban-e-Ghazi Street in DHA neighbourhood, divulged Station House Office Gizri Asad Mangi.

The Police have sealed the area and has launched a search operation to arrest the killers. However, the number of culprits cannot be ascertained as yet.

Abidi succumbed to his injuries after he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
His body has been shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for postmortem.

Abidi had resigned from MQM-P's "basic membership" citing "personal reasons" in September, the Dawn reported.
The investigation in his killing is underway as the forensic experts and other investigation agencies have arrived at the crime scene. (ANI)
