Tamil Nadu: CM Stalin and SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav unveil statue of former PM VP Singh in Chennai

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin alongwith Samajwadi Party Supremo and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday unveiled the statue of the former Prime Minister VP Singh. Read further on Dynamite News:

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin alongwith Samajwadi Party Supremo and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday unveiled the statue of the former Prime Minister VP Singh on the Presidency College premises in Chennai. 

According to Dynamite News correspondent, MK Stalin, Akhilesh Yadav and many others including the former PM's family members paid floral tributes to a portrait of VP Singh as part of the ceremony. 

In April last, CM Stalin had announced that the TN Government would install a statue of former PM V P Singh in recognition of his role in implementing the 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) in Central government jobs based on the recommendation of the Mandal Commission.

VP Singh was also remembered for his major role in addressing the Cauvery river water issue, a matter of livelihood for the people of Tamil Nadu.
