Chennai: As the Nation celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi 10-day festivities and ending with the immersion of Lord Vinayak Idols on the last day, at some places the immersion of the Idol takes place during celebrations.

In Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu devotees immersed the eco-friendly Lord Ganesh Idol in Kumaraswamy lake in RS Puram yesterday, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Coimbatore Corporation has made elaborate arrangements for the immersion of Idols. Corporation Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran said that the civic and police departments have been directed to make proper arrangements for the celebrations.

The clay Ganesh Idols are considered to be environment friendly without causing any water pollution. They are made from Shadu Mati (clay) or other natural, biodegradable materials. After that they are decorated with colors from natural, non-toxic pigments that dissolve easily in water.

These idols are designed to be water-soluble. Some of the Idols are also made with plant seeds in the clay that can be planted after immersion, allowing the blessings of Lord Ganesha to continue in the form of a plant.

Clay Idol
Eco-friendly Idols are made from natural clay. These Idols are biodegradable and dissolve quickly in water without releasing harmful chemicals.
