New Delhi: YouTube has launched a new 'Hype' feature in India to promote small creators on its platform. On July 15, Google India officially announced it through its blog post. This feature is specially designed for those YouTube creators who have less than 5 lakh subscriber, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

What is the Hype feature?

With the help of the Hype feature, users can give additional support to their favorite new videos. The Hype option will appear below the Like button of the video. Any user can hype a video only within the first 7 days of its publication. Every user will get a chance to hype only 3 times a week, and that too is absolutely free.

Benifit of creators

According to YouTube, it is a big challenge for new creators to get their videos to the audience. If a video gets more hype through the Hype feature, then that video starts coming in YouTube's leaderboard. This leaderboard is shown in YouTube's 'Explore' section, which includes the top 100 Hype videos of the country.

The videos that top the leaderboard also get an opportunity to be featured on YouTube's homepage. This not only helps small creators get more viewers but also increases their recognition and reach rapidly.

Bonus points to small creators

YouTube has also clarified that creators who have fewer subscribers will be given more bonus points in exchange for Hype. Its purpose is to provide a platform to new and emerging content creators so that they can also present their creative ideas on a large scale.

Global testing and other features

The Hype feature was first tested in Turkey, Taiwan, and Brazil in 2024. More than 5 million Hypes were created there in just four weeks. Along with this feature, YouTube has also launched many other innovations like AI-based tools, auto dubbing, and digital gifts.
