The Election Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2021 seeks to allow electoral registration officers to seek the Aadhaar number of people who want to register as voters “for the purpose of establishing identity.” Full story
The apex court, however, said that those who do not have Aadhaar cards or numbers would not be deprived of any government schemes or benefits till next the date of hearing.
