The Halwa Ceremony is a long-standing tradition that signifies the completion of the Budget’s preparation and precedes the physical isolation of officials until the Budget is presented in Parliament. The Union Budget 2026-27 will be presented on February 1, 2026.
The traditional ‘Halwa ceremony’ was held in the Finance Ministry on Monday to mark the beginning of printing of documents relating to this year’s interim budget.
