Ahead of theLok Sabha elections, Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy here on Wednesday said that if the Congress and JD(S) alliance wins at least 20-22 seats in Karnataka, then a Kannadiga can once again become the next Prime Minister of the country.
“If injustice continues, then I will lead this agitation for a separate state for north Karnataka. We are not going to sit with our hands tied,” he said.
The Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) alliance together with two independent candidates have 117 MLAs, six more than the majority required to form a government in the state. All the 117 MLAs voted in Kumaraswamy’s favour.
After Bharatiya Janata Party’s B.S Yeddyurappa, it is now Congress- Janata Dal (United) alliance’s turn to take the floor test.
The rival-turned-allies in Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav and BSP’s Mayawati arrived amid loud cheers and shook hands on the podium set up to seat the political dignitaries.
