The main festivities are being hosted in Maharashtra with Mumbai as the epic centre. Out of 20 lakh Ganesh Pandals, there are about 7 lakh pandals in Maharashtra only.
This year Bappa has a chakra in his hand, an attractive crown on his head and is wearing a purple dhoti. Seeing the grandeur and beauty of this form, a wave of devotional enthusiasm has run in the pandal.
This year Ganesh Chaturthi falls on 27 August. The festival is dedicated to Lord Ganesha who is the eliminator of obstacles. On auspicious occassions, the first prayer is offered to Lord Ganesh.
