Anant Chaturdashi celebrations begin
New Delhi: Ganesh Utsav is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country from Ganesh Chaturthi to Anant Chaturdashi.
This auspicious occasion started with the Ganesh Chaturi on 27 August and will culminate on Ganpati Visarjan today, the final day of the 10-day Ganeshotsav. It's also called Anant Chaturdashi.
On the day of Anant Chaturdashi, Bappa is bid farewell and the tradition of Ganesh Visarjan is performed.
On this occasion devotees gathered in large numbers in Lalbaug as the iconic Ganesh Gali Ka Raja immersion procession kicked off, marking the culmination of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
Anant Chaturdashi time
This year the festival of Anant Chaturdashi is being celebrated on 6 September, i.e. today. The date of Anant Chaturdashi will start from 3.12 am today and will last till 1.41 pm on 7 September. The auspicious time of worship has started from 6.02 am today, which will last till 1.41 pm.
Anant Chaturdashi Significance
Lord Vishnu is also worshipped on Anant Chaturdashi. On this day, by keeping a fast, an Anant Sutra with fourteen knots is tied in the hand and it is opened at the time of Parayan. Salt is not consumed during the fast and sweet items like kheer, vermicelli are consumed. It is a religious belief that by reciting Gajendra Moksha on this day, one gets freedom from all the troubles of life and attains salvation. On this day, devotees can do Parana anytime before the end of Chaturdashi Tithi.
Ganesh Visarjan 2025 Shubh Muhurat
Many special Muhurats have been told today for Ganesh Visarjan. According to the Panchang, today's auspicious time was from 7:36 am to 9:10 am. Whereas, the afternoon Muhurta will be from 12:19 pm to 5:02 pm. The evening Muhurta will be from 6:37 pm to 8:02 pm and the night Muhurta will be from 9:28 pm to 1:45 am.
How to immerse Ganesh ji?
Before Ganesh Visarjan, it is necessary to worship the idol of Ganpati Bappa and offer him coconut, incense and Shami Patra. If his idol is small, then it should be carried by keeping it on the lap or head and there is a tradition of scattering Akshat in the house on the way. The idol should be carried barefoot and leather items should not be kept with it.
This day has special significance in Hinduism. It is believed that by worshiping the Anant form of Lord Vishnu and fasting on this day, all the obstacles in life are removed. On this occasion, there is a tradition of tying the Anant Sutra of yellow thread with fourteen knots and reading the fast story.
