TVK party chief Vijay has released his first video statement addressing the tragic stampede at his rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu causing the deaths of 41 individuals.
The youngest among 41 dead in the stampede is a two-year-old boy. Others included a 28-year-old woman and her two daughters under 10, and a 24-year-old couple set to marry.
This financial assistance will be provided to the victims of the tragic stampede where at least 39 people, including children and women lost their lives and dozens were injured.
The stampede, which occurred on Saturday, claimed the lives of 39 people including women and children, and left over 80 others injured.
Crowds had reportedly begun gathering as early as 7 am while actor-politician Vijay arrived at the venue only around 3 pm.
Following the tragedy, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced immediate relief measures and ordered a formal inquiry into the incident.
As per the police chief, the organisers had expected around 10,000 people to appear in the actor-politician rally instead around 27,000 turned up.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said that this is by far the largest number of deaths the state has witnessed in a program organised by a political party.
