Siddharthanagar: A heart-wrenching incident occurred on Friday when three youths drowned in the Budhi Rapti river as they were went to bathe, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
This incident happened near Kanhe Kusum village in Jogia Kotwali area of Siddharthnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. It is being said that even after 24 hours of the incident, no trace of the youths has been found.
Body of one of these youths was recovered, while two others were being searched.
This incident happened in the afternoon when 17-year-old Jamal son of Rahees, a resident of the village, went to bathe in the Budhi Rapti river with his acquaintances Saddam (30 years) son of Nathu and Saheb (19 years) son of Qurban. Saddam and Saheb are residents of Bargadwa police station area of Bettiah district of Bihar and used to do construction work under a contractor named Noor Mohammad.
According to the locals, three of them were bathing in the river, when suddenly Jamal went into deep water and started drowning. Saddam and Saheb also got into the river in an attempt to save him, but sadly all three were swept away by the strong current of water and drowned.
Police had found the body of one of these youths, but the SDRF team of Gorakhpur was engaged in the search of the other two since morning, but till evening nothing could be found about the two youths.
At present, people from many villages have gathered at the spot and the family members of the youths who drowned in the river are in a bad state due to weeping.
On the other hand, as soon as the information of the incident was received, Inspector-in-charge of Jogia Kotwali Anup Kumar Mishra reached the spot with his team. He started the rescue operation with the help of local divers.
After a lot of effort, Saddam's body was recovered and it has been sent for post-mortem. At the same time, the search for Jamal and Saheb continued till late evening, but no clue could be found.
While giving the information, Jogia Anup Kumar Mishra said that both the youths are being searched since morning. SDRF team is working diligently, but no clue has been found so far.
