Lucknow: The last week of October in Uttar Pradesh is expected to be marked by seasonal fluctuations and the impact of Cyclone Montha. The Meteorological Department says that moisture from the Arabian Sea and a weather system forming in the Bay of Bengal have increased cloud activity. Consequently, maximum temperatures will drop by 4 to 5 degrees Celsius over the next two days.
On Monday, most parts of the state witnessed cloud movement, a drop in temperatures, and drizzle in Jhansi and Lalitpur in Bundelkhand. By Monday evening, Banda recorded the highest rainfall of 14.6 mm, followed by Lalitpur at 10 mm. In view of the weather, farmers have begun harvesting their paddy crops in full swing. Farmers fear that water will damage the standing paddy crop in the fields.
Cyclone Montha’s impact will be felt from October 29th to 31st.
Atul Kumar Singh, a senior scientist at the Regional Meteorological Center, Lucknow, stated that the deep depression in the Bay of Bengal is rapidly intensifying and turning into a severe cyclonic storm. Moving northwest, it could reach Kakinada on the Andhra Pradesh coast as a severe cyclonic storm on the evening or night of October 28th. The greatest impact of Cyclone Montha will be felt in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Between October 29th and 31st, several districts of Purvanchal and Bundelkhand, bordering Bihar, are expected to experience thunderstorms and rain. Heavy rain is forecast for Varanasi and other areas on October 30th.
Snowfall expected in Himachal

This impact could bring rain and snowfall to the state. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in Tabo and Keylong was recorded in minus. The weather remained cool in the morning and evening. Meanwhile, the capital Shimla and other parts experienced sunny skies on Saturday.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, the weather is expected to remain clear in the state until October 31st. However, the activation of a western disturbance on October 27th may cause rain and snowfall in many parts of the state.
