Maharajganj: Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav has strongly criticized the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government and administration over a bulldozer action in Maharajganj. He alleged that officials acted arbitrarily and illegally demolished a house. Following the incident, the Supreme Court took a strict stance and ordered the concerned authorities to recover compensation, highlighting administrative misuse and unlawful actions.
Akhilesh claimed that the Supreme Court’s decision proves that government officials cannot act with impunity. “This is a reminder that administrative misuse and wrongful actions will have to be accounted for,” he said.
Akhilesh also expressed concern over the demolition drive in Dalmandi market, Varanasi. He said that the SP stands with the small traders, who are being harmed without due process. Highlighting the situation in Meerut, he alleged that the BJP government has turned demolition drives into a “return gift” for certain business interests.
He further criticized the state government, saying, “Akbar Nagar has been completely destroyed, yet the BJP does not care about people’s suffering.” Akhilesh warned that when the time comes, officials responsible for actions like those in Maharajganj will also be held accountable.
The SP leader also raised questions about government development projects in Lucknow, including riverfront initiatives, calling some of them unnecessary. He added that the public is ready for change and implied that the current government’s term is coming to an end.
