New Delhi: Skincare for men is often synonymous with simplicity a single bar of soap doubles up as face wash, body wash, and shampoo. In contrast, women typically follow elaborate routines involving cleansers, serums, moisturisers, and sunscreens.
The stark difference between male and female approaches to skincare has often been a source of humour, a fact actor-comedian Viraj Ghelani highlighted in a viral Instagram video this week.

The video opens with Viraj sitting alongside a male friend, comparing two cleansers from the same brand. When the friend innocently asked, “Alag kya hai isme?” (What is the difference between the two?), Viraj replied, “1 mei hyaluronic acid hai aur dusre mei niacinamide hai” (One has hyaluronic acid and the other niacinamide).
He went on to explain that one cleanser is hydrating while the other produces a foaming effect. Despite the detailed explanation, his friend remained utterly confused. The only difference he could spot was the size of the packaging.

Frustrated by his friend’s lack of understanding, Viraj joked, “Shadi kiya kya? Nhi kiya na? Toh alag hai. Mereko bhi nhi malum. Mai bhi abhi abhi sikh raha huun” (Did you marry? No, right? Then just accept that both are different. I also don’t know. I’ve only been learning recently). The comment humorously highlighted that most men learn about beauty products through the women in their lives.
The video ended on a laugh-out-loud note when the friend concluded, “Colour alag hai” (The colour is different), showing that he still couldn’t distinguish between the two cleansers. A side note in the video read, “Sab kuch same toh hota hai!” (Everything is basically the same).
