New Delhi: The sub-4-meter SUV segment in India's auto market is set to undergo a major transformation in the next 2-3 years. Companies like Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Hyundai, Kia, Mahindra, and Volkswagen are preparing to launch new compact SUVs with petrol, hybrid, and electric engines. These new cars will enter the Indian market by 2026-2027 and will pose a strong competition to existing models.

Hyundai Compact EV

Hyundai's upcoming compact electric SUV will slot below the Creta EV. This EV will be available in two battery options and will compete with the Tata Punch EV and Nexon EV. Its design will be based on global inspiration and is expected to launch in 2026.

Tata Scarlett

Tata Motors is strengthening its sub-4-meter SUV lineup with a new SUV called the Scarlett. This car will be based on the mechanicals of the Nexon and Sierra. It will have new styling and could hit the market by 2026.

Tata Punch Facelift and Next-Gen Nexon

The Tata Punch facelift will come with new features and styling. Meanwhile, the third-generation Nexon, dubbed 'Garuda', will be built on a re-engineered version of the X1 platform. Its launch is expected in 2027.

Maruti Suzuki Micro SUV

Maruti Suzuki is also launching a new micro SUV to compete with the Tata Punch and Hyundai Accent. Its launch timeline is expected after 2026.

Kia Cyros EV

Kia's Cyros EV will be a fully electric SUV. It will feature two battery packs and can deliver a range of over 400 km. The design and interiors will be similar to the ICE version.

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, Vision X, and Vision S

Mahindra has unveiled four concept models based on the NU_IQ electric architecture. The Vision S will be a smaller version of the Scorpio, the Vision X will be for compact crossover buyers, and testing of the XUV 3XO EV has already begun.
