Gwalior Trade Fair Draws Nationwide Buyers with Massive Car Tax Benefits
Gwalior: Fairs in India have been an important part of our culture and tradition. Along with religious, social, and cultural events, trade fairs are also held across the country. Fairs typically feature food, rides, and clothing and handicraft stalls, but a fair held in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, is unique in that even cars and motorcycles can be purchased there and at significant discounts.
The Gwalior Trade Fair is known nationwide for its 50 percent road tax (RTO fee) discount on vehicles. Thousands of two-wheelers and four-wheelers are sold at this fair, which runs for approximately two months every year in December-January. Every range of motorcycles, along with options from small cars to the luxury segment, are available here.

The fair features showrooms for everything from ordinary cars to luxury cars. Brands like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra, Hyundai, Kia, Renault, Jeep, and Citroen are also present, along with Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW. In addition to the road tax exemption, companies also offer attractive discounts, significantly reducing the on-road price.
The 50% road tax exemption typically benefits residents of Madhya Pradesh. Buyers from other states such as Delhi, Rajasthan, or Uttar Pradesh, are required to provide proof of address in Gwalior or Madhya Pradesh. This can be accomplished by providing proof of address for two years or by registering the vehicle in the name of a relative living in Gwalior. The registration code remains MP-07 (Gwalior).
This year, more than 8,000 vehicles have been booked in the first 25 days of the fair. The road tax exemption will begin on January 19th, and deliveries will also begin on the same date. Early delivery recipients receive double benefits.
