New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday traveled in a bullet train from Tokyo to Sendai along with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. Both leaders shared pictures of this historic trip on social media.
The Japanese Prime Minister described it as a 'journey together,' while PM Modi informed about reaching Sendai. Locals in Sendai gave him an enthusiastic welcome with slogans of 'Modi San Welcome.'

After reaching Sendai, both the leaders met Indian loco pilots undergoing training at the East Japan Railway Company. During this, they observed the latest ALFA-X train and got information about the bullet train project. This is an important aspect of India-Japan railway cooperation.

PM Modi visited the semiconductor wafer fabrication plant being built in Ohira village of Miyagi Prefecture. The project is being executed by JSMC, a joint venture of Taiwan's PSMC, SBI Holdings, and Japanese partners. It is one of the largest projects to revive Japan's semiconductor manufacturing capacity.

The two countries adopted a shared vision document titled "India-Japan Joint Vision for the Next Decade." After meeting with the governors of 16 prefectures in Tokyo, PM Modi left for China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. The visit has proved to be an important step towards strengthening the India-Japan strategic partnership and enhancing technological cooperation.
PM Modi said that the pairing of Japanese technology and Indian talent is a winning one. Work is underway on the high-speed rail project, as well as rapid progress in sectors like ports, aviation and shipbuilding under next-generation mobility. The agreement between ISRO and JAXA for the Chandrayaan 5 mission was welcomed, which will symbolize humanity's progress in space.
