Patna: Counting of votes for the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections began at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, and the initial trends have changed the political climate across the state. After two phases of voting (November 6 and 11), the highest voter turnout of 67.13 percent was recorded, making this election historic. This high voter turnout had already signaled to election experts that the public was in a mood for decisive change this time.

NDA enjoys a strong lead in early trends
In early trends, the NDA maintains a strong lead in over 199 seats, according to the latest data as of 10.45.

On the other hand, the Grand Alliance appears to be limited to 41 seats.

These trends clearly indicate that the NDA is making a strong comeback in Bihar politics, while the Grand Alliance appears to be performing relatively poorly.

Record voter turnout boosts electoral interest
This time, the people of Bihar set a new record by voting the highest since independence. The high voter turnout forced both alliances to formulate new strategies. Many political analysts believe that issues such as development, employment, education, and corruption in rural areas have directly influenced the election trends.

Who is fighting the decisive battle in Bihar?
This time, the main contest in Bihar's electoral arena was between the NDA and the Grand Alliance.

The NDA includes:

  • Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)

  • Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM)
  • Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM)

The Grand Alliance includes:

  • Congress
  • Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP)
  • Communist Party of India

In addition, several new and smaller parties have made the election contest interesting, the most popular of which is Prashant Kishore's Jan Suraj Party.
