Patna: Nitish Kumar, the incumbent Chief Minister of Bihar and chief of Janata Dal (United), is set to take oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha on April 10, according to senior BJP leader Sanjay Saraogi.
Confirming the development on Sunday in Patna, Saraogi said that the swearing-in ceremony will formally mark Nitish Kumar’s entry into the Upper House of Parliament.
Following the oath-taking ceremony, discussions regarding the formation of a new cabinet in Bihar are expected to gain momentum. Saraogi indicated that the decision will be taken collectively by the ruling alliance.
“The Chief Minister, our Bharatiya Janata Party central leadership and the National Democratic Alliance will sit together and take a decision on this,” he said.
The move is being seen as a significant political development in Bihar, as the leadership of the NDA government in the state and the composition of the cabinet will be decided after consultations among alliance partners.
Political observers say the discussions among the BJP, JD(U), and other NDA allies will determine the structure of the new cabinet and the allocation of key portfolios in the coming days.
