Rahul Gandhi Accuses Election Commission of Enabling "Vote Theft" for BJP
New Delhi: New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the BJP during a press conference held on Thursday, just weeks before the crucial Bihar assembly elections.
The opposition leader raised serious concerns about electoral integrity, questioning the reliability of EVMs and alleging bias in the Election Commission's functioning.
"The election was held in one day; now it takes months"
Rahul Gandhi said that "Earlier there was no EVM, yet elections used to be held in the whole country on the same day. But now elections go on for months. What is the reason that now voting takes place in different stages?"
He described it as "deliberate delay" so that the BJP could take advantage of the administrative system. He alleges that the Election Commission is not fair and is working in favor of BJP.
"Why is there a big difference between the exit poll and the result?"
Giving the example of elections in Haryana and Madhya Pradesh, Rahul said that "exit polls and opinion polls indicate an outcome, but in the end the result becomes something else." He claimed that the internal survey of the Congress is also correct, but the result comes upside down.
His question: "Is EVM being rigged?"
"Where did 1 crore new voters come from?"
Rahul also questioned the Maharashtra assembly elections: "1 crore new voters were added in just 5 months, which is more than the average of the last 5 years."
He alleged that "the Election Commission did not give the voter list, which creates doubt that it has been rigged." He also said that "we lost in the assembly elections but won in the Lok Sabha. It proves that EVM was disturbed."
"Why is BJP not afraid of opposing power?"
Rahul said an interesting thing: "Every party has to face opposition to power in democracy, but it has no effect on the BJP." His indication was that the BJP is controlling the administrative system, media, and election process.
Will there be EVM controversy in the Bihar elections too?
These allegations of Rahul Gandhi have been raised just before the Bihar elections, which makes it clear that the Congress is going to make EVM and the election process an issue.
If there is a difference between the exit poll and the final result in Bihar's result, then this dispute may increase further. The question is whether the Election Commission will give any clarification in this matter.
