Stock Market Holiday Today, Trading to Resume on March 27
New Delhi: The festival of Ram Navami is being celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm across the country today, March 26. The Indian stock market is also closed on this occasion. According to the official holiday list of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), there will be no trading in any segment today.
The equity segment, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, and interest rate derivatives segments will be completely closed today. Segments such as NDS-RST and tri-party repo will also remain closed. This means that investors will be unable to buy or sell shares today.
Trading will be closed in the morning session on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX). However, trading in the commodity market will resume after 5 p.m. Investors are advised to confirm session timings with their broker or the official website.
Normal stock market operations will resume on Friday, March 27. Investors will be able to make decisions regarding their investments and trading starting tomorrow.
Holidays in the Indian stock market are determined based on national holidays and major religious festivals. Ram Navami is one of the country's major festivals, so SEBI and the stock exchanges have declared it a trading holiday.
Experts say that investors should plan their strategies on the day the market is closed. Fluctuations in global markets, especially rising crude oil prices and tensions in West Asia, can impact the Indian market. Therefore, investors should review their portfolios and be prepared for the next trading day.
After Ram Navami, the market will remain closed in 2026 on occasions such as Eid al-Fitr, Maharashtra Day, Independence Day, and Diwali. Investors should keep an eye on the exchange's holiday calendar to plan their investments appropriately.
