Government of India appointed MOIL as STE

The Government of India has designated MOIL as a State Trading Enterprise (STE) for the export of manganese ore with a Mn grade of less than 46%. In the 2024-25 fiscal year, MOIL has developed a mechanism under which any export of manganese ore from India will be routed through MOIL. In this process, MOIL will provide goods to foreign buyers under back-to-back arrangements with domestic suppliers.

MOIL’s production jumps by 7%, sets new record of 1.46 lakh tonnes in Sep

Why Low Grade Manganese Ore Important?

Export of low grade manganese ore (Mn 25%) from the country assumes major significance as India has surplus Mn ore of low grade fines, in excess of domestic demand, and hence export of low grade ore enhances India’s global footprint and boosts foreign earning.
