New Delhi: The Delhi Police has arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of a 22-year-old woman, daughter of an Indian Revenue Service officer, in Amar Colony. The accused, identified as Rahul Meena, was apprehended from a hotel in Dwarka, where he was allegedly hiding after the incident.

The woman was found dead at her residence on Wednesday morning, prompting a swift investigation.

Suspected Assault and Theft

According to preliminary findings, the victim was allegedly assaulted and strangled inside her home. Police suspect that a mobile phone charging cable may have been used in the crime.

Officials also indicated that the accused may have stolen cash from the house. Initial estimates suggest that approximately ₹2 to ₹2.5 lakh could have been taken, though detailed recovery information is yet to be disclosed.

Background of the Accused

Investigators revealed that the suspect had previously worked as a domestic help at the victim’s residence but was dismissed around six weeks ago. Police said complaints had been received about his behaviour, including borrowing money frequently.

Authorities also noted that the accused was allegedly involved in online gaming and had financial issues, which may form part of the investigation into the motive.

Possible Link to Separate Case in Rajasthan

Police are examining a possible connection between the accused and another reported incident in Alwar. Officials stated that a separate complaint has been registered there, and local authorities are conducting a parallel investigation.

A special team has been formed to coordinate between Delhi and Rajasthan police units, with several individuals being questioned for further leads.
