According to officials, the operation is focused on cases involving Anil Goyal, Sanjay Udyog, LB Singh, and Amar Mandal. These cases involve widespread coal theft and financial misappropriation, resulting in losses of hundreds of crores of rupees to the government.

New evidence of financial misappropriation expected

Officials stated that the raids are wide-ranging, and the premises of several prominent figures are being searched. ED tightens its grip on 24 premises in West Bengal

In addition to Jharkhand, the ED has also launched a major operation against coal mafias in West Bengal. Raids are being conducted at 24 locations in Durgapur, Purulia, Hooghly, and Kolkata districts. This operation focuses on cases related to illegal coal mining, its illegal transportation, and storage. Officials say this is the most extensive action yet against coal gangs long active in these districts.

More than 40 locations searched in joint operation

According to the ED, this joint operation, underway in Jharkhand and West Bengal, is focused on more than 40 premises. Initial investigations have revealed a strong network of coal mafias spread across both states, which steal coal from government coal fields on a large scale and supply it illegally. This not only causes huge losses to the government treasury but also provides financial support to criminal gangs.
