Lucknow: The Lucknow police's action against folk singer Neha Singh Rathore in connection with an alleged inflammatory social media post about the Pahalgam terror attack is currently in the news. Reports of her detention surfaced on Saturday. However, the police clarified that she was released after a formal questioning. The entire matter is related to an FIR registered in the Hazratganj police station area.
According to the Hazratganj police, Neha Singh Rathore's formal statement has not yet been recorded. Due to the late night and her being a woman, she was allowed to go home after the formal questioning. Police officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and she will soon be sent a notice again so that her statement can be recorded during the day as per the legal process.
Police say Neha Singh Rathore shared a post on social media related to the Pahalgam terror attack. The FIR alleges that the post targeted a particular religious community, potentially harming social harmony and national unity. The FIR was registered in the last week of April.
According to police officials, all aspects of the case are being thoroughly investigated. Upon completion of the investigation, further action will be taken in accordance with the law.
