New Delhi: Devotees pulling a chariot during a procession from the Om Shakti Temple in Jagjivan Ram Nagar, Bengaluru, were allegedly pelted with stones on Sunday night, police said.

A police officer told that a complaint was received alleging that miscreants threw stones at the chariot during the procession. According to the news agency, two children sustained head injuries in the incident.

Following the alleged attack, devotees gathered outside the Jagjivan Ram Nagar police station and staged a protest, demanding action against the culprits.

The protesters claimed that similar incidents had occurred in the past. The devotees insisted on filing an FIR after the incident.

Police said that an FIR has been registered and an investigation is underway. Security has been beefed up in the area, and the Deputy Commissioner of Police of the West Division, Yatish NB, visited the police station to assess the situation.

Police said that necessary action will be taken against the culprits after they are identified, and added that the situation is under control.
