Three more arrests in a Pakistan-linked espionage racket in Ghaziabad have taken the total to 21. The accused allegedly shared sensitive information and conducted reconnaissance of key installations across multiple locations.
The network allegedly passed sensitive information using social media and local operatives.
New Delhi: Police in Ghaziabad have arrested three additional individuals linked to a suspected Pakistan-backed espionage network, pushing the total number of arrests in the case to 21. Officials said the accused were part of a larger group allegedly involved in passing sensitive information across borders.
Among those recently arrested is Sameer alias Shooter, originally from Bhagalpur and currently residing in Delhi. The other two suspects are from Shamli and Shahjahanpur districts.

According to police officials, the accused have been questioned by the National Investigation Agency as part of the ongoing probe. Authorities confirmed that a chargesheet has already been filed in a local court.

Earlier arrests included individuals from multiple states, highlighting the wide reach of the network.
Investigators revealed that several accused were recruited through social media platforms. One of the arrested individuals reportedly said he came in contact with handlers through online channels and maintained direct communication with contacts based in Pakistan.
A woman accused in the case allegedly disclosed that she had joined the network after connecting with one of the key operatives via Facebook.
Police said some members of the group were tasked with conducting reconnaissance of key installations, including railway stations and security facilities across Delhi and other regions.
They allegedly captured photos and videos of these locations and shared them with handlers.

Officials identified Suhail alias Romeo, a resident of Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh, as a central figure managing the network within India. The group is believed to have been coordinated by a handler operating from Pakistan.
Investigators said members were paid for each piece of information, with funds routed through indirect channels such as local money transfer centres to avoid suspicion.
The espionage racket was first uncovered on March 13. Since then, multiple arrests have been made, including some minors allegedly used to evade suspicion. Police said efforts are ongoing to identify remaining links and fully dismantle the network.
