New Delhi: In a shocking case from Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district, police have solved the murder of Tuleshwar Nonia, revealing that his own son allegedly masterminded the killing to secure a job on compassionate grounds, officials said on Thursday.

Three accused -- Vijay Nonia, Akhilesh Mallah, and Amit Kumar Singh have been arrested in connection with the case, SP, Rural, S. Mohammad Yakub said on Thursday.

According to the police, Vijay Nonia, the middle son of the deceased, conspired to have his father killed with the intention of obtaining employment in Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) under the compassionate appointment scheme following his father’s death.

During the investigation, it emerged that he allegedly struck a deal worth Rs 10 lakh to get the murder carried out. With the help of the two other accused, he is said to have executed the plan in a premeditated manner.

The police said they solved the case on the basis of technical evidence, sustained questioning, and other investigative inputs. Officials said the crime was planned in advance and carried out accordingly.

The incident came to light on June 20, when at around 4.45 a.m., police received information through a watchman that a body was lying near bushes along the PCC road between Chitahi and Barora.

A police team from Barora station reached the spot, took the body into custody, and launched an investigation. The deceased was later identified as Tuleshwar Nonia, an employee of BCCL. Preliminary findings had indicated that he was killed by being attacked with a stone. SP, Rural, Yakub said that the investigation pointed to familial and financial motives behind the crime.

Based on the evidence and interrogation, all three accused were arrested. Police said further legal proceedings are underway, and investigations are continuing to ascertain whether any other person was involved in the conspiracy to kill Nonia.
