New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced a revised fee structure for passport-related services, with the new rates set to come into effect from July 1, 2026.
Under the amended rules, applicants seeking a fresh passport will have to pay higher charges across both normal and Tatkal categories. The revised rates will also apply to passport replacements, police clearance certificates, and other related services.

As per the new schedule, an ordinary 36-page passport for applicants aged 18 years and above will cost Rs 2,500 under the normal application process and Rs 5,000 under the Tatkal scheme.
For those opting for a 60-page passport booklet, generally preferred by frequent international travellers, the fee has been fixed at Rs 3,500 under the regular category and Rs 6,000 under Tatkal.
A replacement for a lost or damaged passport has been priced at Rs 4,250 under the normal category and Rs 6,750 under Tatkal.

The government has also increased charges for replacing lost, stolen, or damaged passports. A replacement 36-page passport will cost Rs 5,000 under the normal category and Rs 7,500 under Tatkal. For a 60-page passport, the charges have been fixed at Rs 6,000 and Rs 8,500, respectively.

For applicants below 18 years of age, a fresh 36-page passport will cost Rs 1,750 under the normal process and Rs 4,250 under Tatkal. Replacement passports for minors will attract higher charges.
The revised notification also covers other passport-related services. The fee for obtaining a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC), Surrender Certificate, Global Entry Programme verification, and similar certificates has been fixed at Rs 750 in India.
The MEA said the revised fee structure will be applicable nationwide from July 1, and applicants planning to apply for passport services may consider completing the process before the new rates take effect.
