Mumbai Horror Story: Man Disguised as Transgender Rapes Air Hostess After Evil Eye Trick, Arrested Within Hours

A shocking crime in Mumbai’s Powai has surfaced where a man allegedly entered a woman’s home by claiming to remove the evil eye and sexually assaulted her. Police traced and arrested the accused within four hours.

Mumbai: A shocking incident has come to light from Mumbai’s Powai area where a man allegedly posed as a transgender person and entered a woman’s house on the pretext of removing the evil eye before allegedly sexually assaulting her. Police arrested the accused within hours after receiving the complaint.

According to police, the accused allegedly threatened the woman after the incident and claimed he could cause harm to her if she spoke about it.

Accused Entered Flat On Pretext Of Removing Evil Eye

The incident reportedly took place on August 18 in Powai. Police said the accused approached the woman claiming that he had the ability to remove the evil eye.

After gaining entry into the house, he allegedly went inside the bedroom and sexually assaulted the woman against her will.

Police Register Case, Launch Investigation

Following the woman’s complaint, Powai Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and started an investigation to trace the accused.

Police teams examined CCTV footage and gathered technical evidence as part of the probe.

CCTV Helped Police Track Accused

During the investigation, police found CCTV footage showing the accused leaving the area in an autorickshaw.

Using technical surveillance and human intelligence, police traced him to a slum area in Kalwa, Thane, where he was later detained.

Accused Identified As Anil Shinde

Police identified the accused as Anil Sheshrao Shinde, 28, a resident of Kharegaon in Kalwa.

Officials said the accused was arrested on August 19 and produced before a court. Police added that the case was solved within around four hours of receiving the complaint.

Police Issue Safety Advisory

During the investigation, police also found that the accused was allegedly not a transgender person but had dressed as one while seeking alms.

Mumbai Police have appealed to citizens to remain cautious and avoid allowing unknown persons or strangers claiming to provide services or remedies into their homes without verification.
