Kanpur: A sensational disclosure of prostitution was made in the police raid at Rajendra Hotel located in Rail Bazar police station area of Kanpur on Saturday night. During the action, 3 women and 5 men were caught in objectionable condition. The police have taken everyone into custody and started interrogation, as well as started tightening the noose around the hotel management and the gang leaders.
The incident took place on Saturday, 23 August at around 10 pm. ACP (Cantonment) received information that suspicious activities have been going on for a long time in Rajendra Hotel located in Rail Bazar police station area. As soon as the information was confirmed, the police planned action. A special team was formed under the direction of Assistant Police Commissioner Akanksha Pandey of Cantonment area, which included Faithfulganj outpost in-charge Sub Inspector Ajay Kumar, Rail Bazar outpost in-charge Divesh Mishra, Acting Inspector Jaiveer Singh and women policemen.

Police interrogation revealed that this racket of prostitution was being run by three persons named Ashok Patel, Harsh Gupta and Lokesh Bajpai. The police suspect that these people have been involved in this illegal business for a long time and used to rent the hotel regularly for this work. ACP Akanksha Pandey said that a detailed investigation is being done in view of the seriousness of the matter. Strict legal action will be taken against the people whose names have come up.
The management of Rajendra Hotel is also being questioned intensively. The police are trying to find out whether the hotel operators were aware of this illegal activity, and if yes, were they involved in it? Many locals said that there were complaints about this hotel earlier too, but no action was taken. Now the police are also looking into how many times fake documents have been used in the name of the hotel.
