A shocking daylight murder in Meerut’s Ramraj town has stunned locals after a man allegedly shot his wife’s lover in a crowded market and later posted a video online claiming revenge. Police arrested the accused hours after the incident.

Meerut: A sensational murder in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district created panic after a man allegedly shot dead his wife’s suspected lover in broad daylight in a crowded marketplace. The incident occurred in Ramraj town under the Bahsuma police station area on Thursday afternoon.
According to police officials, the shooting took place between 1:35 pm and 1:45 pm when the victim was travelling through the market on a motorcycle. The sudden attack, captured on CCTV cameras in the area, shocked shopkeepers and pedestrians who witnessed the violent episode.

The victim, identified as Surendra also known locally as Sunil or Gaba was reportedly stopped near the Sanatan Dharam Temple in Ramraj. Investigators said the attacker, later identified as Pradeep Dhiman, approached the motorcycle and opened fire.
The first bullet struck Surendra in the waist, causing him to lose control of his bike and fall onto the road. Eyewitnesses told police that instead of fleeing, the attacker allegedly confronted the injured man again and fired another shot at close range.
Surendra succumbed to his injuries at the scene before he could receive medical help.
Soon after the attack, the accused reportedly recorded and uploaded a video on social media claiming responsibility for the killing. In the clip, he allegedly said he had taken revenge, hinting at a personal dispute linked to an alleged relationship between the victim and his wife.
The video quickly circulated online, drawing attention to the crime and helping investigators track the suspect.

Police launched a search operation soon after the incident and arrested the accused later the same day. Officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to verify the circumstances leading to the murder and examine the accused’s claims about the motive.
Authorities are also analysing CCTV footage from nearby shops and streets to reconstruct the sequence of events.
The incident has raised concerns over rising incidents of violent personal disputes and the ease with which crimes are sometimes broadcast on social media platforms.
