Chennai: The Super 8 - Match 8 T20 between India and Zimbabwe at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai ended with a win for India, who bowled out Zimbabwe for 184 while defending a target of 257, clinching a 72 runs victory.

With the ball, Arshdeep Singh starred with figures of 3/24, supported by Varun Chakaravarthy who took 1 wickets to dismantle the chase.

India delivered a powerful batting performance in the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, posting a massive total of 256 for 4 against Zimbabwe in Chennai. The score marked the highest team total of the tournament so far.

The match is being played at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, where Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza won the toss and opted to bowl first. However, India’s aggressive batting quickly turned the decision into a difficult one for the visitors.

India began the innings on an attacking note with Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma providing a solid start. The duo added 48 runs for the opening wicket before Samson was dismissed for 24 after being caught by Ryan Burl off the bowling of Blessing Muzarabani.

Abhishek continued the momentum alongside Ishan Kishan, forming a quick 72-run partnership for the second wicket. Abhishek reached his half-century in just 26 balls and eventually scored 55 off 30 deliveries, hitting four boundaries and four sixes before being dismissed by Tinotenda Maposa.
