PM Modi’s sharp attack from Samastipur- vows to keep ‘Jungle Raj’ out, hails Nitish, and warns against RJD-Congress “scam politics.” But Tejashwi’s fiery comeback flips the narrative. Who will Bihar believe this time?
PM Modi targets Mahagathbandhan at Samastipur rally.
Samastipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday kickstarted the Bihar Assembly election campaign from Samastipur, addressing a massive public rally alongside key NDA allies-Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Chirag Paswan and Upendra Kushwaha.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister visited Karpoori Gram, the native village of socialist icon Karpoori Thakur, and paid floral tributes to the late leader.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said that the people of Bihar have resolved to keep Jungle Raj out of the state. “Before coming here, I went to Karpoori Gram and paid tributes to Jannayak Karpoori Thakur. It is due to his blessings that people like me and Nitish ji, coming from poor and backward families, are standing on this stage today,” he said.

The Prime Minister said that Bihar has witnessed an era of transformation under the NDA government, adding that the alliance is committed to ensuring a prosperous and developed Bihar. “Rs 28,000 crore has been transferred to farmers’ accounts under the PM-Kisan Nidhi scheme, including Rs 800 crore to the farmers of Samastipur,” he informed.
Targeting the opposition, PM Modi accused the Congress and RJD of stalling Bihar’s growth. “It was in October 2005 that Bihar was liberated from Jungle Raj, and the good governance of Nitish ji began. But for the next ten years, Congress at the Centre tried to keep Bihar backward. They were taking revenge on you for voting for the NDA,” he said.
PM Modi alleged that the Congress and RJD had colluded to deny central projects to Bihar. “The RJD would pressurise Congress not to give any project to Bihar. Despite that, Nitish ji has worked tirelessly to bring the state out of its problems. A new era of development has begun in Bihar,” he asserted.

Continuing his attack, PM Modi accused the opposition parties of trying to “steal” the legacy of socialist leader Karpoori Thakur. “The RJD and Congress leaders, who are out on bail in scams worth thousands of crores, are now trying to snatch the title of ‘Jannayak’ for political gain. The people of Bihar will never tolerate this insult to Jannayak Karpoori Thakur,” he said.
Responding to PM Modi’s remarks, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, the chief ministerial face of the Mahagathbandhan, hit back, saying that the Prime Minister himself had earlier listed 55 scams under Nitish Kumar’s rule. “What action has been taken? When scams are happening and no action is being taken, that itself is Jungle Raj,” Tejashwi said.
He also accused the BJP of hypocrisy, citing that “the top five BJP-ruled states in the country have the highest crime rate.” Tejashwi added, “What are they doing there? If crime in Bihar is Jungle Raj, then what about BJP-ruled states?”
Bihar Elections: Mahagathbandhan faces internal rift; Seat-sharing disputes threaten alliance unity
Earlier, during an interaction with BJP workers, PM Modi had described the upcoming Bihar polls as “an election to write a new chapter in the history of Bihar.” He emphasised that the youth of Bihar will play a key role in shaping the state’s future and reiterated that the people of Bihar will never forget the days of Jungle Raj, no matter how much the opposition tries to hide its misdeeds.
With this rally, PM Modi has set the tone for the NDA’s election campaign in Bihar, seeking to consolidate support around the themes of development, governance, and social justice, while drawing sharp contrasts with the Mahagathbandhan’s past record of corruption and misrule.
